An online parenting intervention, available free to Queensland parents and carers, is the first shown to reduce Preschool children’s ADHD symptoms.
The University of Auckland trial into Triple P Online has shown the self-directed eight-module course can:
- reduce children’s ADHD symptoms
reduce parents’ stress and depression
improve parents’ confidence in managing behaviour problems.
Queensland mother Naomi Stantiall did the Triple P — Positive Parenting Program’s online course to help with her five-year-old son, who was diagnosed with ADHD. ‘He wasn’t following instructions and was getting angry and aggressive,’ says Naomi. ‘Now he can express himself better and control himself a bit more. If we didn’t do Triple P Online, I’d still be dealing with the tantrums.’
